Comments to winetours and stays in Bordeaux
With the words of my clients,
discover their impressions of a wine tour in the Bordeaux region
“Dear Mathilde,
We have had a very enriching long week-end with you in and around Bordeaux. As the theme of our visit has been all about wine, I would like to continue in a Yuri-Wine-Critic style:
-Eye: After an excellent theoretical introduction you made us discover the most famous chateaux on the Left Bank. It was extremely interesting for us to experience the origin of the wines we have in our personal collection, and to see the beautiful area where your family is from. A special thanks to you here for the very short-term organisation of our visit at Chateau Margaux. This has always been a great wish for us. 100/100 points.
-Nose: during our stay we have had the chance to taste approximately 20 wines. Through these we have been able to understand the spectrum of different terroirs and vintages. It was a special experience for us to be able to get a deeper insight into the wine business and a Bordeaux-dynasty. 100/100 points.
-Mouth: beside the perfect wines, we had the chance, thanks to your recommendations, to try different restaurants. We would like to name two special restaurants: Chateau d’Agassac and Le Bordeaux Brasserie of Gordon Ramsay. The lunch at Chateau d’Agassac was in every way perfect (the surroundings, the atmosphere, service, food & wine, and of course your company). 100/100 points.
The only points we would have to deduct from the score: unfortunately our stay was too short; time flies when you have a good time! We are sure that we will come back and visit the Right Bank with you. Thank you for your fantastic guiding.”
Yuri and Yvonne from Germany
“Dear Mathilde,
With great joy, I think back on our common day in June that we had in the Bordeaux region, where you made us live a great and rare moment, all in a very cosy atmosphere, both on the oenological side as for the gastronomy.
A GREAT day!
If somebody should ask me for advice on a guide in your region, it will be my pleasure to give them your address with my warmest recommendations!”

“Even if it is already some time ago that I visited Bordeaux, I really wish to recommend Mathilde Pfeiffer to all those who plan a wine-tour in the Bordeaux region.
From the very beginning we met this wonderful young lady, who has made our trip to something special and has introduced us to the marvellous chateaux and her personal contacts. The restaurants were all outstanding without exception, be it a simple one or a star restaurant!
I do not dare to make a wine-tour elsewhere, as it is very difficult to top a tour with Mathilde.”
Heidi, Josef, Vera and Barend from Germany
“Dear Mathilde,
My friends and I have made many wine tours and other tours around the World.
And I can tell you, we are all of the same opinion, that we have never, in any other wine region before, had such a competent, likeable, sympathetic and knowledgeable guide as yours. We have not only found all the chateaux we asked for, but also the information provided when we were driving was outstanding, and all in a perfect German.
We have been welcomed to our visits on a public holiday (8th of May) in exactly the same way as had it been a normal weekday. The meals and the lunches were perfectly organised, once in a village restaurant and once in a chateau. I had of course conceived our program together with you and with your recommendations, and the idea to have one day on the left bank of the Garonne and the next day on the other side was just great.
The tastings were all perfectly organised, the information about the area, terroirs, the size of the chateaux, the owners, the history – you just knew everything, as for example every detail of Chateau Canon La Gaffelière/La Mondotte!!
Unfortunately we only had two full days, but they were so complete; we couldn’t have had it better. For sure, those beautiful days will stay in the memory of our whole group for a long time.”

“For sons of Swiss wine producers, it is a particular privilege to visit the Bordeaux region in company of a person with real knowledge of viticulture and wine. Mathilde showed us the way through the chateaux and the appellations with her highly specialised comments.
Being herself daughter of a very representative Bordeaux wine-family, Mathilde introduces you with passion to a world that she so perfectly knows.
This makes a real difference for a visit to Bordeaux. She has convinced us: For sure, we will be back!”
Petra, Elisabeth, Daniel et Jean-Daniel from Switzerland
“We had a very nice holiday in Bordeaux. Mathilde showed us the vineyards of Pomerol, the village of and a château in Saint-Emilion and the city of Bordeaux. As we made a little trip to the beach, she recommended us a picturesque fisher village by the sea. We have very much appreciated that Mathilde made the tour interesting not only for us adults but also for our children. We can really recommend Mathilde as your guide in and around Bordeaux.”
Kristina and Anders from Denmark
“Dear Mathilde, Dear Friends,
Thank you for a wonderful, rich, and interesting week. And what a fantastic tour we had with Mathilde in the two most interesting areas, Médoc and Pomerol/Saint-Emilion, with the extraodinarily deep insight into the conditions, processes, and the beautiful places. An unforgettable experience.”
Klaus from Denmark
“I totally agree with Klaus. It was a great experience to visit the very knowledgeable winemakers and their cellars. I am very impressed. This would not have been possible without Mathilde as “door opener”! Personally it was particularly interesting to experience the French language and culture on “cellar” level and in the small villages such as Cadillac and Bergerac. Thanks to everybody for a successful winetour.”
Marcel from Denmark
“Thank you for your precious efforts, Mathilde, as our guide. It was such a good decision to have your help to get into the five places, that all had something unique to offer. Sunday we went to the centre of Bordeaux and decided to visit “La Cité du Vin” and did a wine test, where we were all lured by two white wines, that showed to be identical, just that one of them had been coloured red-wine-red. As planned, we had lunch at the Bristot des Quinconces, which we can absolutely recommend. I must say that I am still a very big fan of Pomerol wines, and this has certainly not diminished after this tour. But that you are able to plant 10.000 vines per hectare of land in some Bordeaux appellations was for me a big surprise, and was beyond my wildest expectations.”
Carl-Henrik and Bente from Denmark
“Thank you for the two wonderful days in Bordeaux and thanks for all the pictures. It was a pleasure to visit the many chateaux and cellars and to hear the answer to nearly everything from the winemakers and cellar masters. We all agree that we have had a great time in Bordeaux, full of adventures.”
Torkild from Denmark
